Nate and Kristin
Dear Birthparent(s) -
Hello. Our names are Nate and Kristin and we thank you for taking a moment to learn about us. Your decision to pursue adoption is a courageous act which we so admire and respect. Nate and his older sister were both adopted and his family had an open and honest approach about it. He knew he was adopted even before he could grasp its full meaning. So we come into this process from two different perspectives—that of an adopted child and potential adoptive parents. We’re flexible, but are hoping for an open adoption. |
About Us
We met on St. Patrick’s Day in 1999, one of the luckiest days for us both. And although we attended rival colleges, we don’t let our competing teams come between us. We’ve been married since 2001 and are so ready and excited to begin our family. For 6 years we struggled with infertility. Despite tests and procedures, a pregnancy never happened. When we decided to move on and adopt, the decision felt not only right, but liberating. Our hope to start our family has been renewed. Nate is 39 and works as a computer consultant. Kristin is 35 and writes novels. Both of us work at home so we will be able to share in parenting duties. Should that change, Kristin will still be a stay-at-home mom.

Our Interests and Lifestyle
We live an active lifestyle and love to travel. We’ve had the chance to explore Europe over the past few years, enriching our lives for the better. We also enjoy visiting our family and friends in different parts of the States, whether it be the mountains or a big city.
At home, we live in a cul-de-sac in a Johnson County, Kansas suburb which is very family friendly. Literally across the street is a great park with tons of walking and bike trails. We often see horses, deer, and even the occasional wild turkey while out walking. “Our park” is definitely a part of our everyday life which makes our dog, Smokey, very happy. Smokey is the best and has been a good warm up to parenting for us. He’s fun, even-tempered, and is great around kids. Our house also has a fenced backyard and a deck with lots of room to play. We built it for a family with space to grow.
Nate likes to compose music, enjoys golf, mountain biking, and is an avid fan of college sports, especially basketball which he also likes to play. When Kristin isn’t writing, she’s usually reading or walking the dog. She bikes as well but sticks to the pavement. She’s also a big fan of yoga, watching movies, and cooking. |
Our Family
We both grew up in the Midwest, were raised in close-knit Methodist families, and always had pets and activities to keep us busy. Among our immediate family, we have a Hollywood movie editor, a French Horn player and instructor, a retired preacher, a college teacher, a professional nanny, artists, singers, and piano players. Family visits are a big deal to us and we’re fortunate to always be able to gather for the holidays and other big events. Some members live just a state away, others are at the beach in California and down South in the Carolinas. At gatherings we like to play cards or board games, take walks with our dogs, chill out with a good flick, and of course, eat. Our grandparents, uncles, aunts, and nephews are very eager to welcome a new member into the mix. We are blessed to have very loving and supportive families who are a part of our lives and share in our goals. |

| In Conclusion
When it comes to raising children, Nate and I plan to foster a good education, nurture dreams and creative interests, and help develop an appreciation for different cultures. We also believe that having fun, exercising, and enjoying the outdoors is an important part of a kid’s life. Being a parent is a tough full-time job that lasts a lifetime. We are committed to do our best in providing a stable home full of warmth and joy.
Nate and I are very ready for our next adventure: Loving and raising a child.
In Friendship,
Nate and Kristin |
