Ryan and Leigh

We are Ryan, Leigh and Megan, an energetic, loving and fun family from Kansas City.  We understand you are trying to select a family in which your baby can thrive and be loved.  We are excited that you are thinking about us.

About Us

We have been married 9 years.  We met in 1996 when we were in college at the University of Missouri at Rolla.  We literally hit it off right away and have been together ever since. We have both known from the beginning that we wanted to be parents.  We were married in July of 2000.  After enjoying a couple years of married life we decided to try to have a family.  Unfortunately, as soon as we went to the doctor we were told that it would be medically impossible for us to conceive.  We both had quite a bit of grieving to do but we finally realized that what we really wanted was to be parents and that is what brought us to adoption.

Family comes first in our lives.  We have so much love to share and we can’t wait to add to our family, to have another child to love and encourage through life.  We have experienced the joy of being parents and want to expand our happiness with one more child who will have a big sister who can’t wait for his or her arrival.

About Ryan

My whole life I planned on getting a job, getting married and then starting a family.  I am an electrical engineer at a local company where I spend my days designing upgrades to power plants.    I was raised in a strong supportive Christian home; we were very close and still are.  I have watched my brother and his wife raise their two children just a block away and am excited to now be enjoying that life with Leigh and Megan.  I like to play softball, ride my bike and do pretty much anything outdoors.

About Leigh

I grew up in a small but very loving and close family.  The greatest desire of my heart has always been to be a mom.  That is why I chose to become a teacher. First of all, I love working with kids and secondly, I knew that it would allow me to spend a lot of quality time with my own children.  I currently teach math part-time (about 90 days a year), at a local high school.  I love the flexibility of this schedule because it allows me to spend the majority of my time at home with our adorable daughter Megan.  When I have time, I like to scrapbook, shoot hoops, play softball and exercise.  I am currently training to run a half-marathon at Disney World!

About Megan

Megan joined our family through open adoption when she was born in August of 2006.  She is an amazing little girl who is full of life…a total goof-ball.   Megan is very excited about becoming a big sister and prays for “her baby” every night at bedtime.  Megan is quite a nurturer. She spends a good amount of her day taking care of her dolls.  Megan enjoys playing with her cousins and friends, taking swim lessons, going on walks and bike rides with her daddy and baking cookies with her mommy.  When mommy is at work Megan spends the days at home with her Gran.  Megan enjoys hearing about her adoption story and loves visiting her birthmom.

Our Home

Our home is a front-to-back split with 4 bedrooms and 2 and a half baths.  We live in a nice neighborhood with lots of kids.  We are very lucky to live 5 houses away from Ryan’s brother and his family.  Megan loves being this close to her cousins because she gets to play with them a lot! The rest of our family lives within a 15 mile radius of us so we are able to get together often.

In Conclusion

We feel very fortunate in every aspect of our lives.  We have a beautiful daughter, loving family, very close friends and lead a comfortable lifestyle in a nice neighborhood. Our family and friends continue to be very supportive of our adoption efforts.

Our experience tells us that an adopted child is special because he or she is a gift not just from God, but a generous and loving mother and father.   You are an incredibly courageous, loving and unselfish person to choose adoption.  We can assure you that we will provide a home filled with unconditional love and laughter, a good education, and emotional and financial support for your baby. If you choose us, know that we will instill self-esteem and confidence in your child to follow his or her dreams, whatever they may be. If given the opportunity, we will do everything in our power to make a happy life for your baby.

While it will never be possible for us to walk in your shoes, we hope that you receive the support that you need as you go through this journey. You should know that we will always have a place in our hearts for you and we recognize that you are an important part of your baby's story. Your baby will always know where they came from and how many people love them and helped them come into the world.  Your gift will never be forgotten.

Thank you so much for considering us.  We understand that no greater honor could be bestowed upon us than to be given the opportunity to raise your precious child.

Sincerely,
Ryan, Leigh and Megan
