Hello, we are Quentin, Melissa & Braylen
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about us. We can't imagine how difficult of a decision this must be for you; however, we promise to give your child a safe, stable, nurturing and compassionate home. We realize that you have a difficult decision ahead of you and we admire your courage and strength. We hope that learning more about us will give you peace of mind as you consider adoption for your child. Even though we don’t know you, you are in our prayers as you begin this journey.
We met while watching a sporting event on January 19, 2008 and we were married one year later on January 17, 2009. Quentin is an attorney at a large law firm and Melissa is a stay at home mom. We live in a historic home in family friendly neighborhood located in the heart of Kansas City.
We had tried to have children for several years, but we are unable to conceive biological children. At first this was very difficult for us to accept, but after several months of self-reflection, we knew that God has a plan for us. We immediately began seeking that plan - inquiring about adoption and taking the necessary steps to adopt. We were blessed with our son, Braylen in October 2012 through adoption. We know that adoption is an amazing experience and we cannot wait to share our love with another child.
About Quentin (by Melissa):
Quentin caught my attention from the moment I met him and we have been together ever since. He is more than I could have ever asked for in a husband. He is loving, caring and always makes me laugh. He has an amazing work ethic and devotion to his family.
Quentin is an amazing father to Braylen and is excited to add another child to our family. He is loving, supportive and patient. He truly values the time he spends with Braylen and I know he will continue to do the same with our future children. Quentin and Braylen can't wait to take a sibling out for Saturday morning donuts!
About Melissa (by Quentin):
When I first saw Melissa, I told my friend, "I'm going to marry her." Six months later, we were engaged. Melissa is my best friend and I am truly blessed to have such a supportive, loyal and strong person in my life. She is my rock and foundation.
I have enjoyed watching Melissa as a mother and am so excited to add another child to our family. Melissa showers Braylen with so much unconditional love and support, she strives to teach him to be a respectful, loving person and treasures every moment she has with him. I know she will do the same for our future children as well.
Braylen is an energetic toddler and is definitely all boy! He loves cars, trains and animals. He loves spending time at the park, pool and the zoo! He is sweet, loving and compassionate. Braylen loves playing with other children and cannot wait to have a new baby brother or sister!
We were matched with Braylen's birth mother seven weeks before he was born. Even though she lived in a different state, we were able to meet and build a relationship with her before Braylen was born. We arrived at the hospital a few hours after he was born and it was love at first sight! We spent the next few days at the hospital with Braylen's birth family enjoying getting to know them. Braylen's adoption is semi - open which means we share pictures, letters and emails often. We are so thankful for Braylen's birth mother and know that she is a very strong young woman to have made such a difficult decision. We are so blessed to have Braylen as our son and cannot wait to expand our family again.
We both come from very close knit families. Quentin was raised by his Mom (Nana) and is an only child. Quentin's mom lives nearby and enjoys babysitting Braylen. Melissa's parents (Gigi and Papi) and brother, sister-in-law and nephew live a few short hours away. Although they are busy, they always make time for family and we see them quite often even though we are not in the same city. We are both extremely close to our families and our children will have many opportunities to be surrounded by the love and attention from our parents and extended families. Both of our families enjoy playing games and other competitive activities. We often travel with Melissa's family to the lake and enjoy spending time on the water boating, kayaking and fishing.
We love to travel (both domestically and internationally) and spend many long weekends at the lake with Melissa's family. Our weekends are often spent entertaining friends and family in our home; whether it is hosting game night, BBQ or a holiday meal. We are fortunate and blessed to have many close friends who are also considered family. Many of our friends have children so there are always playmates around for our children! We also love to go to all sporting events and enjoy spending time outdoors participating in extracurricular activities, such as running, hiking, kayaking and walking with our dogs, Fenway and Bauer.
For our children, we value the importance of education; teaching, by way of example; respect; maintaining a strong character and work ethic; and raising a child with Christian beliefs and morals. Not only are we committed to encourage our children in their interests and endeavors, but we are also devoted to ensure that our children will develop their strengths and enable them to reach their full potential as a productive, responsible and caring citizen in the community.
Thank you for considering us as potential parents for your child. We look forward to expanding our family and will provide all the love, devotion and support that any child or parent could ask for. We know that you have a very difficult decision ahead of you and you will be in our prayers as you are guided through this journey.
