Mike was born in Kansas City Kansas and Brandee was born in St. Joseph Missouri but were both raised in Kansas City Missouri. We met in 2008 through mutual friends and we really seemed to connect. We exchanged numbers but we were both so shy to be the first to reach out. Mike ended up making the first step by calling. We went on a couple of dates and we both knew pretty quickly that we wanted to be in each other's lives. We have been together for 12 years and we have been married for 6 years. We were both raised in loving families with Christian values. We both have two sisters, Brandee being the oldest sibling and Mike being the youngest in the family. We have been blessed as Aunt and Uncle to 8 nephews and 5 nieces. Being able to spend time with them and watch them grow is something we hold very dear to our hearts. They truly inspire us to fulfill our dream of becoming parents. We have an extremely close family that we get together with on a weekly basis because family is everything to us.
Brandee- By Michael "Mike"
Brandee has worked for ABB Optical for 13 years, where she enjoys manufacturing hard contact lenses with employees that have become some of her close friends. We have been married for 6 years and together for 12 years. She is a hard-working woman, on the job, and just as much at establishing a strong, and loving relationship together through trust, honesty and loyalty. We enjoy cheering on our Chiefs and Royals together, in a venue, or at home. As we are both die hard Chiefs and Royals fans, this is something we have used to make our connection even closer through the years. Other things we enjoy doing together include, taking our dogs on walks, trying new restaurants, vacationing to tropical places, and going to the lake. Brandee is a ball of energy and someone who makes having a good time so easy. Since the beginning of our relationship, we have always talked a lot about someday becoming parents. Once such conversations arose, I started noticing the passion and love that she has for children. When I began to think of things to tell you about Brandee, the one thing that trumped them all was her passion to make children happy. From attending, to decorating, event planning birthdays, and baby showers, her involvement in every aspect of the children's lives that we are a part of is extraordinary. The joy it clearly gives to her also truly brings happiness to everyone around her. From the way she interacts with children, to the way she loves with no boundaries, to say that Brandee would be a great mother would be a huge understatement.
Michael "Mike" - By Brandee
Michael has worked for Ford Motor Company for 11 years. He is a team leader and loves his job. Not only does he love to help others at work, but he also loves to help others outside of work as well. A people pleaser at heart and he's always available to help family and friends in a time of need. Michael has the biggest heart! When we first started dating, I told him that I couldn't have kids due to having ovarian cancer at the age of 19, now 39 years old. I had to have a hysterectomy as a result of my cancer. With open arms he told me that it did not matter because we could always adopt and love a child like our own. I love seeing how Mikes face lights up when he is around our nieces and nephews and any child for that matter. He loves to make them giggle and is always making sure they are having fun with him. He is the most energetic, funny, and down to earth person I know. I call Michael my sports nerd because he loves our home teams, Chiefs & Royals. He is so knowledgeable about sports and we hope one day he will get to pass down his sports abilities and knowledge to our children. Michael is always active. He loves to hunt, golf, fish and just enjoy the outdoors. We cannot wait to include our kids in these adventures one day.
After we got married on September 27, 2014, we were on the search for a new house to start a family in. It needed to be close to family, and work. It needed to be in a good school district, and also needed to be big enough to grow in. We finally found the one we were looking for after several months of looking, it has a 3 bedroom, 3 bath house. It was within a 15 minute drive for Brandee to work, and 3 minutes drive for Mike. Having the extra rooms was very important as we try to expand our family. Both of our families are just a short drive away. The house sits in a newly developed area, with lots of young families around. Our house is backed with a good nature life and nature trail that will take you through a nice little wooded area. We have a community center, elementary school, and middle school located within half a mile of our home. The high school is only a couple of miles away as well. The neighborhood is well lit, and a big hit on Halloween night, as kids are trick or treating everywhere. We have 3 beautiful, loving dogs named Laila, Lenox and Nina. All three are great with kids and are loving protectors. We have always treated them as our kids since we could not have our own and they may or may not be spoiled rotten. We have a big privacy fenced in backyard that our dogs love to run in, and kids have plenty of space to play around. Local perks are located pretty much all around us, some within walking distance, others a short drive.
We are so thankful for the opportunity to be considered to raise a child as he/she was our own. We recognize the selflessness and courage it takes for you to go through this. For that we wish for you to have the strength and love you need to carry on through this process. We haven't met you, but we admire the strength and courage it takes for you to make a decision that will be in the best interest of the child. If we are somehow blessed to be chosen in an open adoption relationship, we know that the lifelong journey together will be a great one. We promise to love, care, and raise him/her to be kind, loving and respectful. We look forward to meeting you and thank you for considering us!
